Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups frozen whole strawberries
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
- ¼ cup fresh basil, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Add the frozen strawberries, granulated sugar, and balsamic vinegar to a small saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries soften and release their juices and the mixture becomes slightly syrupy.
- Remove from the heat and let the strawberry mixture cool slightly.
- Place the softened cream cheese in a shallow serving dish and spread it into an even layer.
- Spoon the strawberry mixture evenly over the cream cheese.
- Thinly slice the fresh basil and sprinkle it over the strawberry topping.
- Serve with crackers, toasted baguette slices, crostini, apple slices, or other preferred dippers.
Notes
- Soften the cream cheese before assembling so it spreads easily into the serving dish.
- Let the cooked strawberry mixture cool slightly before adding it to the cream cheese.
- For the best presentation, assemble the dip shortly before serving so the strawberry juices don’t soften the cream cheese excessively.
