About RecipesEmmy

Emmy Carter — Founder & Recipe Creator at RecipesEmmy

Hi, I’m Emmy Carter, the founder and recipe creator behind RecipesEmmy.

Welcome to RecipesEmmy, a place for homemade recipes, simple cooking ideas, and practical kitchen inspiration for everyday home cooks.

I created this website because I wanted to make finding and preparing recipes feel a little easier. A good recipe should give you more than a list of ingredients. It should help you understand what you’re making, what to expect while cooking, and how to get a result you’ll be happy to serve.

For me, cooking is also about the moments that happen around the food. It can be a homemade dinner after a busy day, pancakes on a slow weekend morning, cookies cooling on the counter, or a dessert shared with family and friends.

My goal with RecipesEmmy is simple: to share recipes that are clear, practical, flavorful, and worth making again.

My Story

My interest in cooking grew through experimenting in the kitchen and learning from the recipes I made along the way.

I started paying closer attention to the small details that can make a difference in a recipe. Ingredients don’t always behave exactly the same way, cooking times can vary, and simple changes can affect the final texture and flavor.

Not every experiment worked perfectly.

Some recipes turned out just the way I hoped, while others showed me what needed to change the next time. Those experiences taught me that recipe development is often a process of testing, adjusting, and paying attention to the details.

I began keeping notes about recipes I enjoyed, ingredient combinations that worked particularly well, and techniques that made certain dishes easier to prepare.

Over time, those notes became more than a personal collection of ideas. They became the foundation for RecipesEmmy.

Friends and family would also ask me for ideas when they wanted something flavorful but didn’t want a complicated recipe. That helped shape the kind of recipes I wanted to share: dishes that feel achievable in a normal home kitchen and provide enough guidance to help you feel comfortable making them.

That is what ultimately led me to create RecipesEmmy.

Why I Created RecipesEmmy

Cooking should be enjoyable, not intimidating.

Some days you have plenty of time to cook. Other days, you simply need a good dinner on the table without spending hours in the kitchen. Sometimes you want to experiment with something new, while other times you want a familiar recipe that feels comforting.

RecipesEmmy is designed for all of those moments.

I focus on creating recipes with:

  • Clear ingredient lists

  • Practical cooking techniques
  • Helpful preparation and cooking tips

  • Ideas for different meals, occasions, and cravings

Most importantly, I want you to be able to look at a recipe and think:

How I Develop Recipes

When I work on a recipe, I pay attention to more than simply getting the ingredients onto a plate.

I consider how the ingredients work together, how the cooking method affects the final result, and which details a home cook might need to know before getting started.

For example, small details such as the thickness of a slice, the temperature of an ingredient, the amount of moisture in a mixture, or the time something spends in the oven can make a noticeable difference.

That’s why I try to include those practical details when they are useful.

I also look at the recipe from the perspective of someone making it for the first time. If a step could be confusing, I want the instructions to make it clearer. If there is a technique that can improve the result, I want to explain it.

Depending on the recipe, you’ll find information such as preparation and cooking times, serving information, cooking method, cuisine, nutritional estimates, storage guidance, recipe notes, and helpful cooking tips.

My aim is to make each recipe useful not only while you’re reading it, but also when you’re actually standing in your kitchen preparing it.

Learning From Every Recipe

Recipe development doesn’t always go perfectly, and I think that’s part of what makes cooking interesting.

A recipe can teach you something even when the first attempt isn’t exactly what you expected.

Maybe a cooking time needs adjusting. Maybe an ingredient combination works better with a small change. Maybe a preparation step needs clearer instructions. Paying attention to those details helps improve the way recipes are developed and explained.

That mindset has become an important part of RecipesEmmy.

Rather than assuming every recipe is automatically perfect, I believe good cooking comes from paying attention, learning from experience, and continuing to improve.

My Cooking Philosophy

I don’t believe you need to be a professional chef to make great food.

You don’t need an enormous kitchen, expensive equipment, or a pantry filled with unusual ingredients. A good recipe, clear instructions, a little confidence, and a willingness to try can go a long way.

I focus on recipes that are:

  • Simple — Easy-to-understand recipes without unnecessary complications.
  • Flavorful — Simple food should still be satisfying and full of flavor.
  • Approachable — Created with everyday home cooks in mind.
  • Practical — Designed around realistic kitchens and everyday cooking.
  • Worth Making Again — Recipes that can become favorites rather than one-time experiments.

My hope is that every recipe you make from RecipesEmmy leaves you feeling a little more confident in the kitchen.

More Than Just Recipes

For me, food has never been only about following instructions.

It’s the smell of something baking in the oven. It’s tasting a sauce and realizing it needs just a little more seasoning. It’s discovering a recipe that becomes part of your regular dinner rotation.

Most of all, it’s making something for someone you care about and watching them enjoy it.

Those small moments are what make cooking special.

I hope the recipes here become part of some of your moments, too.

Maybe you’ll discover a new favorite weeknight dinner, find a dessert your family asks you to make again, or simply come across a recipe that makes your day a little easier.
