  • Author: Emmy Carter
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These Sticky Chicken Bowls feature tender chicken coated in a sweet-and-savory honey soy sauce, served over cooked rice with green onions, sesame seeds, and a creamy spicy mayo drizzle.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken

  • 1 lbs boneless chicken cut into small pieces
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced

For the Sticky Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar optional for extra stickiness
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tsp chili flakes optional

For the Bowls

  • Cooked rice
  • Green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Creamy Drizzle (Spicy Mayo Sauce)

  • ¼ cup Mayonnaise
  • 1–2 tsp Sriracha
  • 1 tsp Lime juice or rice vinegar
  • Pinch of salt Optional
  • ½ tsp Honey (if you want it slightly sweet)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar if using, rice vinegar or lemon juice, and chili flakes if desired. Stir until well combined and set aside.
  2. In another small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and Sriracha. Add the lime juice or rice vinegar and stir until smooth. Add a pinch of salt if desired and honey for a slightly sweeter drizzle.
  3. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the small pieces of chicken and cook, stirring as needed, until cooked through. Add the minced garlic and continue cooking briefly until fragrant.
  4. Pour the prepared sticky sauce into the skillet with the cooked chicken. Stir to coat the chicken evenly and continue cooking until the sauce becomes glossy and sticky around the chicken.
  5. Add cooked rice to serving bowls. Spoon the sticky chicken over the rice, drizzle with the creamy spicy mayo, and finish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Brown sugar is optional and can be used when you want extra stickiness in the sauce.
  • Adjust the chili flakes and Sriracha according to your preferred level of heat.
  • For easier meal prep, store the chicken, rice, and creamy spicy mayo separately and assemble the bowls when ready to serve.
