Maple Cream Cheese Frosting
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 3/4 cup confectioner’s sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the cinnamon roll dough using the whole milk, almost-melted butter, granulated sugar, yeast, pumpkin puree, room-temperature egg, salt, and bread flour. Mix and work the ingredients together until a soft, cohesive dough forms.
- Lightly dust the work surface with additional bread flour as needed and prepare the dough for shaping.
- Prepare the pumpkin spice filling by combining the very soft butter, packed dark brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and cloves.
- Roll the dough out into an even sheet on a lightly floured work surface.
- Spread the pumpkin spice filling evenly over the rolled dough.
- Roll the filled dough into a log and cut it into individual cinnamon rolls.
- Arrange the rolls in the baking pan and continue with the supplied recipe’s baking instructions.
- Prepare the maple cream cheese frosting by mixing the softened cream cheese with vanilla extract, maple syrup, and confectioner’s sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Once the cinnamon rolls are finished baking, spread the maple cream cheese frosting over the rolls.
Notes
- Use plain pumpkin puree rather than pumpkin pie filling.
- The recipe can be made with instant yeast or active dry yeast.
- Keep the filling butter very soft so it spreads easily across the dough.
