Ingredients
Scale
- 48–60 frozen tater tots (16-ounce bag)
- ¾ cup cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
- ½ cup sour cream
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 2 green onions, sliced (green part only)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to the baking temperature recommended for the frozen tater tots.
- Allow the frozen tater tots to soften slightly so they are pliable enough to shape.
- Arrange the tater tots in the cups of a standard muffin pan, using enough to cover the bottom and sides of each cup.
- Press the tater tots firmly into the muffin cups to create compact potato cups.
- Bake until the tater tots are golden brown and crisp around the edges and the cups hold their shape.
- Sprinkle the freshly shredded cheddar evenly into each potato cup.
- Return the muffin pan to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted.
- Remove the cups from the oven and allow them to cool briefly.
- Top each cup with sour cream, crumbled cooked bacon, and sliced green onion.
- Carefully remove the Loaded Tater Tot Cups from the muffin pan and serve warm.
Notes
- Let the tater tots soften slightly before shaping so they are easier to press into the muffin cups.
- Bake the potato cups until they are properly crisp before adding the cheese and toppings.
- For the best texture, add the sour cream and green onion just before serving.
