For the Beef Bulgogi
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce or Gochujang chili sauce
- ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons minced ginger
- ¼ cup thinly sliced shallots
- 2 pounds ribeye or top sirloin steaks, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
For the Bowls
- 3 cups cooked rice
- 4 fried eggs
- 1 cup kimchi
- 1 English cucumber, cut into ribbons
Instructions
- Whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, chili garlic sauce, rice wine vinegar, garlic, ginger, and shallots.
- Add the sliced beef and marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight.
- Cook the rice according to package directions.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat.
- Cook the marinated beef in batches for 2–3 minutes until browned and caramelized.
- Fry the eggs to your preferred doneness.
- Divide the rice among serving bowls.
- Top with the cooked beef, cucumber ribbons, kimchi, and a fried egg.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
- Slice the beef against the grain for the most tender texture.
- Cook the beef in batches to achieve a beautiful caramelized sear.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for extra flavor and presentation.
