Description

These Chicken Caesar Sandwiches feature crispy breaded chicken cutlets, creamy homemade Caesar dressing, crunchy romaine, and a flavorful Parmesan garlic butter spread on hearty hoagies or baguettes.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Cutlets

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 egg, whisked with a splash of milk
  • ¼ teaspoon EACH garlic powder, salt, pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Panko
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Garlic Butter

  • 4 Tablespoons salted butter, slightly melted
  • 2 Tablespoons mayo
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2–3 Tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan

For the Caesar Dressing

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

To Assemble

  •  4 hoagies or baguette
  • 3–4 cups romaine lettuce, chopped or shredded

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Prepare the chicken breasts into thinner cutlets. In one shallow bowl, whisk the egg with a splash of milk. In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Panko, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Coat the chicken: Dip each chicken cutlet into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Transfer to the breadcrumb and Panko mixture and press the coating firmly onto both sides.
  3. Fry the chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded chicken. Fry until the coating is golden brown and crisp and the chicken is cooked through, turning as needed so both sides brown evenly. Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate to drain excess oil.
  4. Make the garlic butter: Combine the slightly melted salted butter, mayonnaise, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, and finely grated Parmesan in a small bowl. Stir until evenly combined.
  5. Make the Caesar dressing: In a separate bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream or Greek yogurt, Parmesan, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, anchovy paste, Worcestershire sauce, and grated garlic. Stir until smooth, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Prepare the bread: Slice the hoagies or baguettes open. Spread the garlic butter evenly over the inside of the bread.
  7. Assemble: Place a crispy chicken cutlet inside each prepared hoagie or baguette. Add the chopped or shredded romaine lettuce and spoon the Caesar dressing over the chicken and lettuce.
  8. Serve: Assemble the sandwiches shortly before serving so the chicken remains crisp and the romaine stays crunchy.

Notes

  • Prepare the chicken as evenly sized cutlets so it cooks consistently.
  • Keep the chicken, dressing, lettuce, and bread separate until serving for the best texture.
  • Greek yogurt can be used in place of sour cream in the Caesar dressing.
