- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
- Fold in the butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, and walnuts if using.
- Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle each cookie with flaky sea salt.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Chill the dough for thicker, bakery-style cookies.
- Don’t overbake—the centers should still look slightly soft when removed from the oven.
- Finish with flaky sea salt for the perfect sweet-and-salty flavor.
