For the Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon coarse black pepper
  • ¼ cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

For the Stir-Fry

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil for 15 minutes.
  2. Whisk together all of the sauce ingredients until smooth.
  3. Heat oil in a wok or skillet and sear the beef until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Stir-fry the onion and bell peppers until slightly tender. Add the garlic and ginger and cook until fragrant.
  5. Return the beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and cook until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the beef and vegetables.
  6. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
