Description
This Air Fryer Lava Cake is a rich, warm chocolate dessert with a soft, molten center and a light dusting of confectioner’s sugar. Made with chocolate, butter, eggs, sugar, and flour, it is an easy individual dessert for chocolate lovers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ounces chocolate, pieces
- 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 large egg white
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon confectioner’s sugar
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate pieces and unsalted butter together until smooth and well combined. Set aside briefly to cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the 2 large eggs, 1 large egg white, and granulated sugar. Whisk until well combined.
- Gradually mix the melted chocolate and butter into the egg mixture until smooth.
- Add the all-purpose flour and stir just until incorporated. Do not overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly among individual heat-safe baking dishes suitable for the air fryer.
- Place the filled dishes in the air fryer, leaving enough space for air to circulate.
- Air fry until the outside of each cake is set while the center remains soft and molten.
- Carefully remove the cakes from the air fryer and finish with a light dusting of confectioner’s sugar.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Watch the cakes closely toward the end of cooking because air fryer temperatures and cooking times can vary.
- For the characteristic lava center, avoid cooking until the middle is completely firm.
- Serve the cakes warm shortly after cooking for the softest chocolate center.
